The envelope felt strangely light in Amelia's hand. She balanced it on her knee as she settled onto the porch swing, the rhythmic creak a familiar comfort. The sun warmed her face. A gentle breeze whispered through the leaves of the old oak tree in her yard.

She thought of her old classmates, a wave of fondness washing over her. She knew most of them. She would eventually read the invitation, but for now she just focused on the moment.
